PRESENTATION ON BEHALF OF THE ACTING REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF 2006 WORLD NO TOBACCO AWARD FOR THE ADRA’S TOBACCO OR HEALTH PROGRAM, CAMBODIA July 20, 2006 at the Cambodia WHO’s Office
Dr. Michael O’Leary, WR Cambodia “On behalf of Dr. Richard Nesbit, the Action Regional Director for WHO’s Western Pacific Region, I am very pleased today to honor the ADRA’s Tobacco or Health Program, Cambodia, with the World No Tobacco Day Regional Award for 2006.”

He continued “It is widely recognized as one of the most effective agencies working to increase awareness of the dangers of tobacco use and to reduce smoking prevalence in Cambodia. Among its many achievements, ADRA’s has been actively involved in the development and implementation of tobacco control legislation in Cambodia. It was involved in promoting the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and played a key role in Cambodia’s ratification of the convention on 15 November 2005. It has also been influential in developing and implementing indoor smoking ban policies in government ministries.”
